The weeks slip by and each day slides, almost unnoticed, into the next.
So, here we are, past the halfway mark for the year, past the longest day (well, in the Northern hemisphere, at least), and well into a summer that will always be remembered for many as being one of the strangest in living memory - venues closed, concerts and exhibitions cancelled, and all the usual holiday activities blighted by social distancing rules and the need to wear masks.
But we do still have the restaurants and bars and here in Ibiza we are fortunate in being blessed with the kind of weather that allows us to enjoy our meals and drinks outdoors. Luckily for those of us who make art and music, they also like to collaborate with us.
One of the nicest venues in the north of the island is Aiyanna, situated just behind the sands of lovely Cala Nova beach. The atmosphere is chilled, the outlook a joy and the food a gourmet’s delight - even for vegans!
From this week, through to early September, the restaurant is hosting a series of exhibitions by local artists - a different artist each week, from Wednesday through to Friday.
Next week, on 22nd, 23rd and 24th July I will be showing work there, and will also be on site to talk to people and demonstrate my way of working on my latest series. There will be a small selection of larger framed works hanging, but I will also be bringing several smaller, unframed pieces too - more affordable for those who don’t have a big budget, and more easily transportable for those who need to pack them into a
suitcase for air travel.
So, if you are on the island, do drop in to have a drink, maybe enjoy a meal and take in some culture at the same time….I will be there on each of my afternoons from 16.00 - 20.00.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
All the best, Mary-Lynne
