'In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.' (Kahlil Gibran)
The joy of creating is the sharing of your creations, regardless of whether you have written a song or a novel, composed a poem or a symphony, carved a Pieta or painted a vase of flowers.
That's why we do it, really - because, when something has touched our souls so much that we feel compelled to transform the experience into a work of art or writing or whatever, we want to share it with the world.
For many of us, too, there is immense pleasure in sharing our skills so that others can unlock their own potential to create, and tap into new ways of communicating their own experiences.
Now, with their usual sources of income - teaching, workshops, gallery work, exhibitions - closed down due to the Corona Virus lockdowns, artists, like so many others, are finding themselves in very straitened circumstances. Many of them will probably have little to fall back on - art is generally not a very lucrative pursuit - so they will most likely have little in the way of savings.
With the #artistsupportpledge we are taking this sharing to the next level, by pledging to support other artists. I am proud to be part of the initiative, whereby I pledge to support another artist or other artists by spending €200 on their work as soon as sales of the work that I am offering - all for no more than €200 - have reached €1000.
To make things easier for you to support me and, at the same time, help others I have created a special gallery on the https://www.marylynnestadler.com/artistsupportpledge page on my website. There you will find some new work that I have made specifically with this in mind; but you will also find other work there, that I have gathered together from other galleries on my website. some of them are already within the price range, others I am offering for less than usual because of the crisis.
The #artistsupportpledge page is not comprehensive, by the way. There are other works on my website - particularly in Landscapes and Flowers - where there are lower-priced works, and these I am also offering as part of the scheme. And finally if, while you are browsing, you see something that you like that is slightly pricier, please get in touch. We may be able to negotiate something, under the circumstances.
Remember to follow the scheme on Instagram #artistsupportpledge, and make sure to keep an eye out for new posts on my Facebook pages - @oilpainteratlarge and @banyantreeartstudio
Take care and stay safe.
